Great Sandy Marine Park Zones

gsmpsmThe Great Sandy Marine Park extends from Baffle Creek in the north to Double Island Point in the south. It includes Hervey Bay, Great Sandy Strait, Tin Can Inlet and the waters off the east coast of Fraser Island, seaward to three nautical miles.

Size, take and possession limits

bag limitsIn Queensland, there are limits on the size of fish that can be legally taken for many species. There are minimum size limits and also some maximum size limits. Minimum size limits generally allow fish to spawn at least once and contribute to the population before they are taken.

2018 Event overview:


crabCrab Section

Over the past few years, the club has offered prizes for those fishers who bring in crabs to weigh in and dress up.  
Crabs for weigh in need to be presented at the weigh-in tent adjacent to the boat ramp at the Lions Park by 1pm on Easter Sunday.

We also have a novety crab section  where punters are asked to dress up a crab to enter in the Best Dressed Crab competition.  Prizes are kindly donated by a local busines for both the Heaviest Crab and the Best Dressed Crab.




Kids Clinic

The is a special part of the Easter Classic schedule that caters specifically for our budding little anglers.  
The clinic is run under the Channel 7 tent on Easter Saturday and Easter Sunday, and provides education and an opportunity to have some fun for the younger entrants in the Easter Classic Competition. 



earlybird1 Early Bird Draw

Each year we give those entrants who register early the opportunity to be in the draw for a prize that is only available to them.  Entries for this special draw close at 5pm on the Friday the 23rd March.




eskywheel1Esky Wheel

The wheel spins on Easter Saturday and Easter Sunday in the afternoon.  Tickets for this fun event are sold each day by club members who roam the Lion’s Park.  You don’t have to enter the Easter Classic to be involved.



ticketMajor Raffle

The major raffle is run each year and this year the prizes are even more suited to outdoor living.  There are four prizes in all.  Tickets are $2 each and can be purchased pre the event at the local Foodworks on Burrum Street and at the Howard and Burrum Heads Markets. If you want to purchase tickets at the event thay will be available at the Merchandise tent over the whole week-end.




Feedback on the event

Your feedback on how you feel the event went or suggestions on how we can improve the event is important.

The Club will use your feedback to cater to the needs of patrons and entrants at future Easter Classic events.
Methods of giving feedback include Facebook, online or complete the feedback forms available at the event over the Easter weekend.
